Back To School Personalized Binders

Hi, it's Kendra once again on this beautiful Tuesday here in Sunny South Carolina!

Now that August has arrived it is Back To School time once again here in the South.  With some of the schools around us already back in session and  my own children start school next Monday I want to take the time to share a project that you can make with your children to make going back to school a little more fun.

It still amazes me how time flies by...I am struggling with the reality that my oldest daughter, Abby is a Senior this year and will be graduating from High School...it just does not seem possible.

Where has the time gone?

My project today is actually the project I do with my oldest daughter just before school starts every year.  It is taking plain 1 inch binders with the outside pockets and making them personalized and special just for her.

Here are 2 of the folders we made her last year.  (We are still waiting to get her class schedule for this yeasr before we can make them for this year.)  They were created with the Cricut Expression, The Gypsy and the following cartridges linked to the Gypsy; Cuttin' Up, George and Basic Shapes and Cursive 101.  The neat thing about creating these with your children is that they can be customized to your child's likes.

Here is a look at the side.  Your child can put these folders in their locker and will be able to clearly read the spine with the subject on it.

Wonderfully Whimsical Patchwork Christmas Stocking!

Welcome to my blog!  I am so excited to be bring you this Wonderfully Whimsical Patchwork Christmas Stocking! I am a collector of all things Sock Monkey and this year, with Christmas just around the corner, I decided to make my family's Christmas stocking with what else but Sock Monkey Fabrics!

Belive it or not this Christmas Stocking was made with The Happy Hauntings and George and Basic Shapes Cricut Cartridges along with the Cricut Expression and the Gypsy or The Cricut Design Studio!

I have provided both .gypsy and .cut files for you have the pattern to be able to recreate this Whimsical Patchwork Christmas Stocking for your family.  There are also step by step instructions for the full assembly of the stocking over at the Mixology Crafts Blog!

30 days of Creativity Challenge - Day 26 - One of my favorites! An Adorable Kittens Project "Recipe" Layout!

Ok, So I think this is one of my very most favorite layouts I have created in quite a while!  It is my Double Crochet Hat and Double Crochet Scarf Patterns that I made into an 8x8 layout!    The brown "ground" cardstock on the bottom is actually a pocket!  The adorable kittens and the unwound yarn are glued to the pocket and are from the Sugar and Spice Cricut Lite Cartridge.  The Hat is a combination of The Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons Cricut Cartridge and The George and Basic Shapes Cricut Cartridge.  The Scarf is from The Speaking Of Winter Cricut Cartridge that was layered.  I think I have a new favorite for titles and it is The Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons Cricut Cartridge.  I just love how the letters are mismatched!

30 Days of Creativity Challenge - Day 20 - My Daddy's Waffle Recipe Layout!

Today is day 20 of the 30 Days of Creativity Challenge.  I decided that today I would create a layout with my Daddy's Waffle Recipe.  My kids call them Papa's Waffles.  Be sure to try them out!

I used the Cricut Expression, The Cricut Gypsy, The George and Basic Shapes Cricut Cartridge, The Old West Cricut Cartridge and The Billionaire Cricut Cartridge to create this layout.

My Dad's Waffle Recipe!  It is Out of this World!!

The Recipe!

The Title Waffles

The Vermont Maple Syrup Bottle

Papa's Waffles

1 Tbsp. Dry Yeast

½ Cup Warm Water

1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Sugar
2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
2 Cups Buttermilk
1 Stick Melted Butter

2 Large Eggs
¼ tsp. Baking Soda

In a large dish with a cover, dissolve Yeast in Warm Water – set for 5 minutes. Add Salt, Sugar, All-Purpose Flour, Buttermilk and Butter. Let set on the counter covered overnight.




In the morning, add Eggs and Baking Soda. Hear Waffle Iron according to directions. When heated, put in ½ cup batter. Serve with Soft Butter and your Favorite Topping – Maple Syrup, Fresh Fruits, etc… Sweetened Whipped Cream is excellent as a garnish! Enjoy!


This recipe comes from Kendra’s father David van Dellen and has been a favorite in our family for many years! I hope that it become a favorite of your too!

It's Christmas Time....yet again!

Ok, so last but not least.....Here is my last "It's Christmas Time" themed layout! I had made one
with the Nativity, one with Snowmen and now I thought how about Santa! This one didn't win a prize either but I really like how it ended up looking! I used Design Studio and the following Cricut Cartridges: Christmas Cheer and George and Basic Shapes. I also use charms, ribbon, Stickles, Cross stitch tread, brads and rubons on this layout. The papers are by My Minds Eye, Bazzill and Prism. I think now that I have 3 layouts with the theme "It's Christmas Time" I am all set for Christmas this year!

IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME....

IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME!!This layout was created for the same page contest as the Nativity Layout (2nd place) that I did. This one did not win anything even though it was my favortite of all 3 that I did! I used Design Studio and the following Cricut Cartridges: Speaking of Winter, Base Camp and George and Basic Shapes. The papers were Bazzill, Prism and My Minds Eye. I also used rubons, brads, Prima Flowers, Ribbon, cross stitch thread and Stickles on this layout.

Bugs Layout with Jar and Net

Ants and Ladybugs and Dragonflies Oh My.....

There are so many photo opportunities when it comes to being outside with your children. I cannot count how many times I have taken pictures of my children catching BUGS! There favorite way to catch them is with a Bug Net and Jar! This layout was made using the Cricut Expression and Design Studio to cut out all of the photo mats, word BUGS and the sticks in the jar. The cartridges used were George and Basic Shapes, Cuttin' Up and Doodlecharms. The bug jar and Bug net were cut out using the Quickutz Silhouette and the ladybugs, dragonflies and the mushrooms were cut out using the Quickutz Squeeze and the 2x2 dies. A paper hole punch was used to cut out the ants that you see crawling around. The paper used in the constuction of this layout was from the Mellow collection by Basic Grey and The New Core'dination Black Magic Cardstock as well as the Core'dinations All-in-the-Family Cardstock. The Black Magic cardstock was crumpled and then lightly sanded.

Scrapbooker Extraordinaire!!

You Scrap all your family photos and memories and still you cannot wait to get your hands on the next set of pictures coming your way! You are a SCRAPBOOKER EXTRAORDINAIRE! This layout was made using the Cricut Expression and Design Studio and with the following cartridges: Cuttin' Up, Locker Talk and George and Basic Shapes. I used the white Signo gel pen to do the pen stiching on the lettering and a black pigma pen to do the black pen stitching. A metal brad was used to embellish the scissors and a real drop of Elmer's glue was used to finish off the glue bottle! This was a really fun layout to design and embellish!

Lookin For Bugs

Such pesky little creatures......So much childhood Joy!

Who doesn't remember lookin' for Bugs? As a child I even had a Glass jar with holes hammered in the metal lid with a small nail. I spent hours hunting for bugs from Praying Mantis to Lightning Bugs and my 3 children have done the same! This layout was Created using the Cricut Expression and Design Studio! I used Doodlecharms, Cuttin' Up and George and Basic Shapes to create this layout! The Cardstocks used were by Prism.

I used a Signo white pen to do the Pen stitching around the letters. The catipillar was made using a hole punch.

THANKSGIVING

There is so much to be Thankful for during the holiday Season! This Layout was made using Paper Doll Dress-up, Doodletype, and George and Basic Shapes. I created this Layout using the Cricut Expression and Design Studio! If you have not purchased Design Studio I highly recommend it! The cardstocks used for this layout were Bazzill, Prism and Core'dinations Cardstocks. My absolute favorite cardstocks to cut with are Prism and Core'dinations! They don't leave the little do dads you have to trim away like the Bazzill cardstocks do! By the way, my favorite glue is the Tombow Mono Aqua adhesive that comes is a blue bottle! It ROCKS! Just remember......more is not better! Use it sparingly.....it only takes a dot here and there!

Thanksgiving Layout

THaNKSGiViNG!

What a wonderful time of year when you can celebrate with your friends and family and remember all the things you are so thankful for! I has so much fun creating this layout with Design Studio and my amazing Cricut Expression! I used Makin' the Grade, Paper Doll Dress-up and George and Basic Shapes to create this layout. The paper is Mellow by Basic Grey, Prism and Core'dinations. I used a black Pigma pen to do all the pen stitching that you see on the Pilgrims and Indians as well as on the Turkey. This layout was so much fun to create! I hope that it gives you some inspiration!
